Architecture Tour of São Paulo and its Landscapes

The goal of this tour is to show off the astonishing variety of architectural styles that make up São Paulo, and to dig deep into the architectural history of the city.

The goal of this tour is to show off the astonishing variety of architectural styles that make up São Paulo, and to dig deep into the architectural history of the city.

The tour includes a visit to downtown São Paulo, where we will find colonial buildings decorated with taipa de pilão (a traditional material made up of a mixture of clay, sand, grass and animal blood) alongside buildings in the neoclassical, eclectic , art noveau and art deco styles.

Afterwards, we will give special attention to the modernist structures, with a focus São Paulo’s brutalist school, which won international acclaim through the works of architects such as Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Lina Bo Bardi and Vilanova Artigas. You will see the MASP, a notorious Art Museum; MUBE, a landmark of local architecture; and Hotel Unique, known for its curved facade and modern interior design.
