How to get to Maceió:

There aren’t any international flights to Maceió.

It relies on its frequent connections with São Paulo, Salvador and Brasília to be connected with international arriving passengers.

Another option to reach Maceió is by land, from Recife, which is about 4:00 hours away. Recife offers some options of international flights.

Location:

Maceió is located in the Northeast of Brazil in the State of Alagoas. Due to its reliance in connections to get its international passengers is ideally bundled with Salvador or São Paulo. Another option is also Recife. Halfway between Recife and Maceió is Maragogi, a gorgeous beach destination in the north of its state, south of Recife. With that being said, a different option is arriving through Recife, going to Maragogi, spending one or two days there and moving down to Maceió.  

What to see:

The capital of Alagoas is famous among Brazilians for its beautiful emerald green sea, which makes its coast look like a living painting. 

Here, culture, history and nature go hand in hand. In historic neighborhoods like Jaraguá, preserved buildings tell the story of Maceió, and coral reef beaches, like Paripueira, create pools of crystal clear warm waters.

A tour through the north shore, where the famous beach of Maragogi is located, is something you can't miss. With the extremely rich fauna and flora, it is an appropriate place for those who enjoy the practice of snorkel and scuba diving.

If you like nightlife and fun, go to the Stella Maris neighborhood, which concentrates countless bars and people of all ages and styles. It is guaranteed fun all night long. 

Climate and Temperature in Maceió:

Maceió has maximum temperatures of around 30 Degrees Celsius or 86 Degrees Fahrenheit from mid-Spring through the end of Summer. That means, from October through March. From May through September the maximum average temperature is of around 27 Degrees Celsius or 81 Fahrenheit. The minimums do not vary as much, they are around 22 Degrees Celsius or 72 Degrees Fahrenheit and just little lower than that on winter months.

It rains more from March through September. Its dryer from October through February.

The best time to go is from October through February, is warm, with less chance of rain.

What to try from Maceió's local cuisine:

Sururu – A shellfish dish, similar to an oyster. sometimes cooked with Dendê Oil and coconut Milk. Also served with Shrimps. There are many different options. Locally you can find several different way of making it.

Pé de moleque – A traditional Northeastern sweet made out of toasted peanut mixed with rapadura, made through the boiling and evaporation of the Sugarcane juice.
